Deck Sanding Brisbane

Brisbane’s weather is great for a lot of things – BBQs, outdoor entertaining and long lazy nights on your back deck. Unfortunately, it’s not so great for your timber.  Thankfully, restoring your boards to tip-top condition – and keeping them that way – doesn’t have to be expensive or stressful. Brisbane Timber Floors has been sanding decks for decades and can have your deck ready to face the elements in as little as two days. What’s more, it won’t break the bank. Here’s how the process unfolds.
Day 1

Select your deck surface type

We’ve got two easy deck sanding options for you to choose from – Non-slip and easy mop.If you’re concerned about safety, we recommend non-slip, but if frequent outdoor entertainment is your thing, easy mop’s the way to go.At Brisbane Timber Floors we’ve got a real eye for detail, and our specialised equipment allows us to sand underneath your handrails. It’s a step most other deck sanding firms in Brisbane won’t – or can’t – do, so if you’re interested, let us know and we’ll include it in your quote.

Choose your ‘look’

Once your deck’s been fully sanded, we’ll apply a coat of Sikkens Cetol deck oil. It’s the highest quality decking oil available, which is why we recommend it for deck polishing in Brisbane. If a touch of colour’s what you’re after, we can also add a tint to your timber with Sikkens Cetol HLS – just keep in mind it’ll need an extra day to dry. If you prefer a nautical look, we can also place black Sika Flex between your boards to create a ship’s deck effect.
Day 2

A smooth second coat

You want your deck to be as smooth as possible, so once your first coat of oil’s dry, we’ll buff it back. We’ll then apply a second – and final–layer of decking oil to ensure complete protection from the elements.Remember, if you add a tint, you’ll need an extra day’s drying time. If that’s the case, we’ll back on day three to apply your second coat of ultra-protective decking oil.

And that’s it – your deck sanding is done

However, as with all good things in life, no decking oil lasts forever. To keep your deck in tip-top condition long-term, we recommend a re-coat every 12 months (18 months if your deck is covered). It’s quick, easy and inexpensive, and ensures you won’t need to start again from the very beginning in 12 months.

“Sanding all the way to the edge, beneath rails.” Not all floor sanders are equal. Most Australian companies do not have the specialised equipment to sand all the way under your handrails. Just another reason why Brisbane Timber Floors should sand your deck.
